Design Brief
We're in the process of developing an open-source design brief people can use as the basis of their own Zero Energy House projects.
A design brief is used to communicate your requirements, helping to ensure you get the outcome you want from your house project.
A design brief should specify more than just the size of the house and what it will look like. It should also include items to ensure your house is comfortable, healthy to live in, and cheap to run.
The first version of the brief will be available in late 2014 and will cover all aspects of a Zero Energy House project:
- Glazing
- Site selection
- Framing & insulation
- Waste minimisation
- Passive heating & cooling
- Water efficiency
- Performance monitoring
- Lighting & appliances
- Materials selection
- Solar photovoltaics & water heating
Open-source means you'll be able to customise the brief to your own needs and contribute to development of future versions by providing information specific to your design.
To be notified when the brief becomes available, subscribe using one of the methods in the footer.
