This website is about the zero energy house that we're currently designing to build on our section in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chev. 

On this website we will document the design and build of our house. We hope that people in New Zealand and internationally will find this a useful resource when designing or building their own home. We believe there are some very compelling reasons to build such a house and we encourage others to consider if these reasons are relevant or important to them.

As the design progresses we will be adding more pages detailing the design decisions that we have made and why we feel that these are the best decisions to reach our goals.

Some of the key areas of the website are:

  • Background : how did we come to be building a zero energy house?
  • What is a zero energy house?
  • Project goals : the key design goals for our project
  • Design notes : this is the menu bar across the top, under these headings we will be adding more information about the key design decisions for the house
  • The project blog : we will post here as we progress with the design
